Fashion 2017 for window dressing
When you’re looking at decorating or home improvements, it’s always worth taking time to consider fashion and trends too. Whilst it’s never recommended to forget practicality, fashion 2017 for window dressing suggests there’s many considerations that may just suit your style – and pocket too!
Natural light is always ‘on point’
It’s not really fair to consider natural light as a trend, as it’s always in fashion – it will always brighten a room, improve a room and what’s more, open up to all sorts of creativity.
So when people are trying to sell your blackout curtains in heavy velour drape, remember natural light is your friend.
Blinds and drapery are getting ever more popular
As we move towards more distinctive looks in window frames – colours, styles, patterns etc. – there’s more of a move towards blinds and drapes. Blinds especially can perfectly complement most windows frames, and in many cases, provide a contrast without sacrificing practicality such as privacy.
Remember the environment and energy
There’s always a push towards conserving the environment, and this has brought energy-efficiency into design for window dressing. Fabrics, styles and features (such as measures to retain heat, or maximise natural light) will all tip their fashion 2017 hat towards energy efficiency for window dressing.
Another aspect to this is that modern housing design encourages architects to incorporate features to bring more natural light, such as a small window in an out-of-the-way area. The practicality of blinds in this instance is perfect as they can be made to measure to fit anywhere in the home, as well as being easily operated. Try closing those heavy velour curtains on that skylight…..
Finally, different materials such as coloured vinyl and thermally broken steel windows are sure to become more popular in 2017 for window dressing due to their energy efficiency.
Drapery is not dead
Although blinds are far more ubiquitous and popular when it comes to fashion 2017 in window dressing, drapes are still a terrific alternative. If anything, drape designer and manufacturers have taken inspiration from blinds and widened (no pun intended) their styling and materials accordingly.
Shimmer and feint drapes are sure to be fashionable in 2017 for window dressing, as they provide a subtle break from the light whilst still maintaining some character. Jewel tones rather than white are grey are sure to be popular, as they still look amazing (which is more important to some people than functionality!). Gauze is likely to be more popular rather than cotton or thick blackout materials.
Blackout is still an option
As we all are looking to improve our health and especially sleep quality, blackout curtains have become increasingly popular. However, they can appear bulky when open and so blackout blinds are appearing more favourable for 2017.
Blackout blinds can still allow heaps of natural light, but are made of blackout slat material that can be tilted to adjust the ingress of light as appropriate.
